I have previously enjoyed the other seek-and-find books by Sarah and André Parker, and this one is short and simple for younger children, with less detailed illustrations and fewer things to look for. Each page spread tells a different part of the Nativity story, with words on one side and an illustration on the other, and there are always two flaps to lift. One involves the main seek-and-find activity, which is obvious under the flap, and the other tells kids to look for something else that’s smaller and more difficult to spot, such as a particular number of chickens. Also, just like with the other books in this series, the same small bird is hiding on every page.
The text is simple enough for babies and toddlers, and the illustrations are cute and appealing. I also like how the author notes Bible references on every page spread, helping parents connect that part of the story to the biblical narrative. This is a high-quality book that parents can use to introduce their little ones to the Christmas story, and this could also be fun for siblings to use together, since older siblings can help little ones with the more challenging activities. Since this book offers multiple seek-and-find elements, kids won’t age out of it immediately, and it can appeal for repeat reads.
