About Amanda Barratt
Amanda Barratt is an ECPA bestselling author known for her deeply emotional and meticulously researched historical fiction, particularly set during World War II. Raised in northern Michigan, she discovered her love for storytelling in grade school when she penned a spin-off of Jane Eyre. That early passion eventually led to multiple novels and novellas published with Barbour and Kregel.
Her early work—rooted in Regency and Edwardian-era romances—evolved into powerful narratives about overlooked stories of bravery and conviction. Her novels The White Rose Resists, Within These Walls of Sorrow, and The Warsaw Sisters focus on individual lives caught in the turbulence of war, revealing moral courage under pressure. Within These Walls of Sorrow won the Christy Book of the Year in 2023, followed by The Warsaw Sisters earning the Christy Award in Historical Fiction in 2024.
Barratt’s storytelling is driven by her commitment to uncovering voices often left out of history. She writes with both emotional realism and historical fidelity, drawing readers into richly detailed settings and characters whose faith and humanity shine through adversity. Her work is noted for capturing the quiet heroism of ordinary people—a doctor resisting tyranny, a family torn apart by war, or communities finding hope amid chaos.
When not writing, Barratt enjoys reading period dramas, devouring historical nonfiction, and dreaming of future visits to England. She lives in Michigan with her family.
