Two stories in one book! The Little Bible Heroes flip-over book series is an easy to read and fun to look at retelling of biblical stories in a way that even the youngest of children can understand.

Daniel was a very young man—likely in his early teens—when he was captured by the Babylonians and brought to Babylon. His story, as told here, especially rings true for young readers learning what to do if people around them are not doing the right thing. This story focuses on Daniel’s refusal to eat the king’s food and his ability to interpret the king’s dream. The very last page briefly summarizes his time in the lion’s den many, many years later and probably would have been better off omitted from this book and in a book all its own.

But with that said, I really appreciate that this series has gone out of its way to tell stories of Little Bible Heroes. Many of the stories in the series talk about young kids who had faith and did great things. That’s a powerful thought to the young reader who just thinks he’s too young to do anything.

The story of Miriam is similar. Miriam is a young girl who, through her bravery and courage, is able to keep her family together for a few more years and give Moses the Jewish upbringing necessary to lead his people out of Egypt.

Little Bible Heroes is a simple, but clear and fun series intended to be read to even the littlest listeners. The visuals are fun and the colors vibrant and the story invites parents to step in and ask questions and teach the storyline and its moral even more deeply.
