Two stories in one book! The Little Bible Heroes flip-over book series is an easy to read and fun to look at retelling of biblical stories in a way that even the youngest of children can understand.

This particular book in the series covers the stories of Creation and Noah. Again, author Victoria Kovacs shines at taking a complex storyline and breaking it into its simplest parts for our youngest readers. Each story has seven pages of illustration and seven pages of illustration and text, which is especially perfect for a retelling of Creation Week.

The story of Creation is simply a straightforward “On Day X, God made Y” factual retelling. Illustrator Mike Krome shines with beautiful visuals and an interesting change of techniques from background to foreground. It’s the kind of story that you’d visually explore with your kids, pointing on the different animals and asking them what they’re called or what sounds they make (ask them what sound a dolphin makes…I’m curious).

Flip it over and you get the story of Noah. Again, the story is told in a straightforward manner, including that God was sending a flood because people were mean to one another. Kovacs hits all pertinent aspects of the story while still remaining as clear and easy-to-understand as possible.

I also love the Parent Connection that each one of these books has in the middle. I would have liked if the Bible verse had come from a more simplified version than the HCSB, but I also understand that B&H owns the rights to that version. Each story has a section of Scripture to read, a section to remember, and two discussion questions to talk about with your child.

Altogether, this is a wonderful addition to the Little Bible Heroes series!
